During tonight's game against Minnesota State-Mankato, North Dakota defenseman (and Panthers' prospect) Derrick LaPoint suffered a nasty ankle injury when he was hit in to the boards during the first period. His ankle caught and quite simply, snapped.
The Sioux won the game, but LaPoint had to be taken off on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital to tend to the injury.
There's a TV capture of the injury, but since I've used the words "gruesome" and "nasty", I'll just post the picture's link instead of embedding the image if you'd rather not look.
I'll be a bit busy tomorrow, but if I can find more about it when I get home, I'll update.
