This afternoon, the Panthers' rookies took on the prospects from the Senators system in the first game of the rookie tournament in Kitchener. Adam Comrie and Shawn Matthias scored a goal apiece for the Cats, but the Senators put up four.
In net, Tyler Plante made 21 saves on 25 shots with two of the goals coming on Ottawa power plays. From what I've been able to tell from people who attended the game, the Panthers were held largely to perimeter shots, so despite outshooting Ottawa 29-25, the quality of shots was not a major factor.
Also picking up points for the Cats are Brady Calla, who assisted on Comrie's first period goal, and David Brine, who set up Matthias in the third to bring the game to within a goal.
A more detailed summary of the events is available at the Panthers' site, and you can access the story directly if you follow the post title above.
Tomorrow afternoon, they're back in action against the Penguins.
